San Antonio Nurse Midwife: A Birth Center Birth Story
This baby had been wanting to come far too early. As these strong parents (and entire birth team) awaited the day she would be in the clear to labor at the birth center as planned, rather than have to birth at a hospital because it was too early. The day finally came when she was far enough along to have her birth at the birth center…and that was the day this baby decided to come into the world! This mom worked tirelessly to meet her baby. She called out to Jesus for strength, saying she couldn’t do it without Him. She had moments of self-doubt, but the support of an amazing husband, a patient midwife, and a steadfast doula supported her through the highs and the lows of this birth. It was so joyous to witness the moment all of her hard work paid off. As this was their second, her husband couldn’t stop commenting on how amazing it was to birth outside of a hospital. Even he understood the beauty in leaving birth undisturbed and in the hands of the mother laboring. This birth was also a reminder that some mothers take a while after their baby is born to be ready to meet them. After some minutes of rest and holding her baby, she said, “I’m coming back,” and became more present in the moment after she had her time to (as some would say) come back to from the heavens after retrieving her baby. <3
