“We expected a Doula, but what we got was a family member. She stepped in the exact moments we needed her to step into. She helped with excercises during pregnancy (expected from a doula) but also didn’t have an issue praying to God when we needed prayer in critical moments. She gave the right encouragement in moments of fatigue. She created content inbetween tasks…
If you’re a father reading this far, take my advice, hire her. You’ll need her.”

Hey y’all, I’m Aubrey!
So who is this person you’re considering inviting into your birth space? My name is Aubrey. Think of me as your go-to guru for all things birth!
Some may call me a type A, control freak. Even being pregnant with my firstborn, I wanted all the details of my perinatal journey planned out. The birth photographer was booked in the first trimester, the nursery was done before 20 weeks, hospital bags were packed at 24 weeks, nurse gifts were made, we took all the classes our hospital offered, and I had an entire “birth binder” ready to go with resources for my birth experience. My expectations for my pregnancy came to a grinding halt when we found out my daughter would be born with a cleft lip and palate. I quickly learned just how little control I had over, well, motherhood in general. This taught me that, yes, so much is out of our control when it comes to pregnancy and beyond, but there are also so many things we can take responsibility for — especially our birth team and how we prepare for birth and postpartum! Doula support and birth photography is more than just a job, it’s a passion-driven career. That’s why I chose a career where I can support families who aren’t content settling for the status quo and want to take back autonomy of their perinatal care and birth.
I believe that my own birth experiences each taught me something unique that helps me better support the families I serve.
Think we may be a good match?
Here are a few fun facts about me:
My favorite Netflix show is Call the Midwife because I love seeing how birth was supported decades ago.
My first doula experience was as a “doggy doula” helping our foster dog birth her seven puppies (pics or it didn’t happen)
I am insanely good at building IKEA furniture. I’m very detail-oriented, and that skill really shines when working with an Allen wrench.
Ever since leading my family around the winding streets of Rome at the ripe age of 12, I’ve had a love for traveling and a great sense of direction.
Reading fantasy books in a bubble bath until I’m pruny and freezing cold is my idea of a night well-spent.
My family has a long list of movies that have caused me to uncontrollably sob (empath probs), including Simon Birch, Grizzly Falls, Marley & Me, and The Iron Giant.
When my husband and I got married, our two fur babies at the time were our flower girls! They had floral collars, and my husband walked them down the aisle.
“I will always look back on my whole experience with positive feelings because of Aubrey’s help and I truly cannot thank her enough for everything!”
— Jordan A.
I’m often asked: What is your birth philosophy?
To start, I believe a birth philosophy is constantly changing and evolving. The more time I spend in families’ birthing spaces, the more my philosophy of birth develops. Below are a few things I believe about birth. I hope you find that it speaks to my mission of supporting all types of families for all types of births in all types of places! Whether you’re birthing unmedicated at home or birthing in a hospital, these are some of the things I firmly believe about birth.
I believe birth is normal, natural, and inherently safe.
I believe in the power of a mother’s intuition.
I believe in a mother’s strength to birth her baby, and her ability to make informed decisions for herself and her child.
I believe that birth is sacred, and anyone in the family’s birthing space should respect the space, their experience, their golden hour, and all the moments in between.
I believe birth belongs to the woman giving it, and I often remind my clients that this is their body, their baby, their birth. Autonomy during birth is a human right, not something that should have to be earned or fought for.
I believe it is important to choose a birth provider and birthing place that aligns with your birth philosophy, hopes and fears, and priority for respect, safety, and autonomy.
I believe in the power of education and preparation during pregnancy so that you + your partner can make informed decisions.
I believe that your birth team is one of the most crucial aspects of your birth. Every single person in your birthing space - your partner, your provider, your doula, any friends or family members - should be someone who respects your choices, believes in your power, and makes you feel safe.
I believe in the power of oxytocin, especially with your partner. It is powerful and essential for birth. It should be protected and facilitated during birth, such as in the form of eye contact with the person you love, one-on-one time, and other intimate moments during birth.
