A San Antonio Homebirth Story told through Birth Photography

To set the scene: A third time mom birthing at home for the first time. A home birth after cesarean. A midwife who trusts birth and trusts the process: no cervical checks, no coached pushing. A doula who truly sees her client and the work she is doing; who reminds this strong mother that she has been here before, she is strong, and she can do this. Two big brothers popping in and out with one question on their lips: “boy or girl?” A husband in awe of his life partner and the holy work she’s doing. And at the center of it all: a mother moving and vocalizing through the ultimate labor of love as she works to find out who it is she’ll be meeting at the end of it all. This birth included roars, battle cries, tears, and joy — so much joy! I feel I should let these photographs speak for themselves, and I hope they speak most to the strength and courage of this mom as she leaned into the intense sensations, trusted herself, and birth her baby on her own terms.

A huge shoutout to this great birth team!
